Our Mission: To provide meaningful opportunities to love God and
our neighbors through worship, community and service.
|
|
We are: Families and individuals gathered around Jesus and His
cross. We are evangelical but not tied to the right or the left politically. We
believe in the fundamentals of the Christian faith but we are not fundementalists.
We stand in the great tradition of the Reformation. But Jesus speaking to us in
His word and by His Spirit is our True North. We want to see our lives, homes, workplaces
and culture touched by what is good and right.
|
|
We believe: The historic Christian Faith presented to us in the
Bible. And we believe the Bible has at its core the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. This
faith is summarized in the historic creeds of the Church such as the Apostles Creed
and the Westminster Standards.

Worship
|
|
|
|
|
|
Our service starts at 10:30 AM, and lasts an hour. We enjoy coffee, donuts and conversation
before the service begins. Dress is casual and we think of ourselves as gathering
with friends in a living room.
|
|
Do I have to do anything or give anything to come here? No. We are simply glad you
are here and hope you feel welcome. We want you to sense that there is a place for
you at COR.

Nursury and Children
|
|
|
|
|
|
We have nursery for infants and younger children up to around 2 years old as needed.
It is our desire to have a safe and nurturing place for these little ones. During
the sermon, we also provide children's church for 3-year-olds through kindergarten.

Service
We believe that the Church does not exist for itself.

Ronald McDonald House
One Saturday a month, we serve breakfast at the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel
Hill. We have grown to love this opportunity to serve these families with a meal
and some conversation, and sometimes tears, around tables. It is a privilege for
us to do this. In December we try to bring some Christmas cheer as we bring toys
for the hospitalized children and their siblings. This is holy ground for us.
|
Christmas Eve with USO
On Christmas Eve, we serve a full Christmas meal for service men and women at the
USO at the Raleigh-Durham Airport. It is our way of saying "Thanks" and
providing for them while they are in transit.
|
Operation Christmas Child
Every year we gather items such as toothbrushes and toys for Operation Christmas
Child. These are sent around the world by Samaritan's Purse to children in need.
|
Food Bank of North Carolina
We hold events to gather food for the Food Bank of North Carolina, such as block
parties in various neighborhoods.
|
Serving in Guatemala
We send teams to Guatemala annually for various types of service. These have been
great opportunities to work and worship with our brothers and sisters in another
country.
|
Loving Others
It is our privilege to serve one another during times of need or transition such
as the birth of a child or a death in the family.
|
|
We'd love to have you join us in serving our neighbors!

FAQ
|
How did Christ Our Redeemer (COR) get started?
We began a few years ago with around 17 people meeting in a home on Friday nights.
Later we started worshiping together on Sunday mornings in the Clubhouse at Park
Village near the Davis Drive Schools. Currently we meet at the Cary Community Center
in Bond Park in Cary. Click
here for map and directions.
|
Why the name Christ Our Redeemer?
Our name states in summary form what we believe. We believe that Christ coming on
that first Christmas was in fact God putting skin on in order to Redeem us by His
death in our place. Redemption is needed because we are fallen and our lives and
the whole creation are less than they were meant to be. Redemption is secured by
Jesus' resurrection from the dead. We say Our because we are and seek to be a family
as we worship and serve together. What can I expect from a worship service? Our
service lasts around an hour. We sing, pray, read the Bible and have a sermon to
help us understand what the Bible is teaching and how to apply what we read to our
lives. We serve Communion weekly. Our service starts at 10:30 A.M., but we enjoy
coffee, donuts and conversation before the service begins. Our dress is casual and
we think of ourselves as gathering with friends in a living room.
|
Do I have to do anything or give anything to come here?
Absolutely not. Let the service be our gift to you as your attendance is a gift
to us. Feel no obligation to give any money (we have an offertory box, but do not
pass a plate). And don't feel any pressure to sing, pray or take Communion with
us. We are simply glad you are here and hope you feel welcome. It is our aim that
you will sense that there is a place for you at COR whoever you are and with whatever
questions and doubts you may bring.
|
What if I have children?
We love having families worship together and we do provide a nursery for infants
and toddlers. During the sermon we have Children's Church for younger ages. It's
our desire to provide a safe and loving environment for these little ones.
|
Is COR part of a denomination?
Yes, we are members of the Presbyterian Church in America. The primary commitments
of the PCA are:
- The primacy and worship of Jesus Christ over all other "saviors."
- A clear minded trust in the Bible as God's word.
- The wisdom from God that leads us to Jesus and a fuller life in Him now, with eternal
life in the world to come.
|
What about other ways I can be involved?
We have various small groups that meet in homes during the week. There are other
service activities such as providing a brunch for the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel
Hill one Saturday each month. Every first Sunday of the month we enjoy a brunch
together at our worship site. We have other projects from time to time and at Christmas
we provide a full meal for military personnel at the USO in RDU. We also participate
in a national program to send shoeboxes full of items to poor children around the
world.
|
How can I become a member at COR?
Membership is basically a simple process, but one that we hope is meaningful. The
bottom line is faith in Jesus and a desire to belong to one another at COR.
|
I have a question that isn't listed here!
Great! Call Eddie Brown at 919.363.9551, drop him an email at
eddie4cor@gmail.com, or feel free to ask anyone at COR.
